Notes On Packaging

Secure Storage & Shipping cannot accept items not packed in boxes (except ironing boards, furniture, etc.). Although we are extremely careful with the items you store with us, we cannot be responsible for damage to items not packaged carefully. With the items you store with us, we cannot be responsible for damaged items not appropriately packaged. The following guidelines will help ensure the safe storage of your belongings.

• DO NOT place any perishable food in any of your storage boxes.
• Pack any electronics or computer equipment in the original packaging if possible. These items may also be placed in boxes sufficiently larger than the original items themselves and packed tightly in the boxes with foam peanuts and towels. Please mark these boxes "ELECTRONICS" or "COMPUTER."
• All boxes must be packed tightly with no empty space in them, as they may settle while in storage.
• All boxes must be securely taped closed with packing tape. (Scotch tape, masking tape, or paper tape are not acceptable)
• Paper or plastic bags of clothes or other belongings are not acceptable. Suitcases and duffel bags will be accepted but must be properly marked with your name.
• Items such as trunks, trash cans, tack boards, and ironing boards need not be boxed but must be labeled with your name and expected future address (if known). Refrigerators should be placed in a box for their protection.

Notes On Shipping

• We will restrict electronics or computers not packed in the original packaging or boxes weighing over 70 pounds.
• Shipping prices will be determined when your belongings are picked up. There is a $12.00 pick-up fee per shipping item.
• Shipping insurance is optional at the rate of $5.00 for every $100.00 of coverage per item.

Insurance

Insurance on your belongings is YOUR responsibility. Coverage is offered at the rate of $10.00 for every $100.00 of coverage.

Payment

Payment is due in full at the time your belongings are picked up. Cash, check or Credit Cards are acceptable. Checks should be made payable to Secure Student Storage. There will be a $30.00 service fee on all returned checks.

Students will be searching for either a place to store their belongings over the summer, or someone to ship them home. We are pleased to offer both of these services to students. In addition we also sell boxes for your stuff! These boxes will be delivered to your dorm's quad by appointment.
